Crazy Weekend

What crazy weekend starts on Friday? No, mine started last Monday.

My boss sent me to Oracle DBA training. Nobody turns down Oracle DBA training. The problem is that I don’t manage any Oracle databases.  It was good training, just not entirely relevant to what I do. My boss says that he expects us to deploy and Oracle-based system next year. Um, okay.

Anyway, I’m in training on Friday when my phone rings. It was a number I didn’t know, but I answered it anyway. It was Paul. He and Beth had been hit pretty hard by the ice storm and had no power nor heat. Obviously they were welcome at my house. So Beth, Paul, and the boys were refugees at my house for the weekend.

Friday night, Paul snapped the most amazing photo of Reggie.

Saturday morning, I got up and went to rehearsal. It was our dress rehearsal for the BGMC Stars concert. Oddly, I didn’t have to wear a dress. Still, it was a good rehearsal, and we got all of our choralography down. After rehearsal, I went to the airport to pick up my sister, her fiancee, and my niece. Fortunately, they were staying at a hotel here in Salem.

Everybody was over Saturday evening, Beth, Paul, Darcie, Sarah, Dave, plus Liz, Dave, and Alex. Fortunately, my condo can handle people. I just can’t seat that many for dinner. Sarah got to experience having all three Pugs. She loved it.

Today was my first “big” concert with the Boston Gay Men’s Chorus. Wow. I picked up Darcie, Dave, and Sarah and we drove to the T station at Wonderland. We took the subway into the city. Sarah LOVES taking the subway.

The concert was pretty awesome. When you’re on stage, the time just flies. Before I knew it, we had hit intermission. And before I knew it, we were done. Wow. It was such an awesome experience. And to have that many friends and family come to see us is just too much. I loved it. I’m sure some photos will start to hit Flickr and Facebook before too long.

After that, I took my family to Finz in Salem for dinner. It was fantastic. My sister and her fiance are foodies, so this was a great pick of a restaurant.

Now I’m tired and off to bed. I have a ton going on this week, including a reunion of some former coworkers. Fortunately, I don’t have rehearsal Wednesday night. Tomorrow, I get to sleep in a little and then take my sister to the airport before going into work. I haven’t touched my work laptop in a week. I have no idea what to expect.
