One year later

It was one year ago yesterday that I packed up my entire life and moved from Pittsburgh to Providence. Ten months later, I’d move from Providence to Boston. It’s been quite an interesting year.  A few new people have come into my life, and sadly, a few people are no longer part of my life. I’ve started an awesome job with an incredible company, and I’ve adopted a pug that brings a new element to my life.

My New Year’s resolutions are simple: First, take better care of myself, not just physically, but emotionally and financially. That ties into my second resolution, learn from the previous year’s mistakes and stop repeating them.

This morning was my one day to sleep in. At 8:30, Reggie decided it was time to get up. After feeding him, I pulled out the Greenie and then the bully stick. That bought me another hour of sleep.

My main goal for today was to find a bottle of alcohol to take with me tonight. Knowing Eric and Steven, I wasn’t going to attempt making food. Steven is a clasically trained chef. I’m way out of my league. Instead, I opted to take a bottle of vodka. For events like this, I’d normally go for a bottle of Kettle One or Gray Goose. The guy at the liquor store (more of an upscale wine shop) suggested something caleld Hangar One. It’s more of an artisanal vodka, or so he tells me. He was awfully cute, so I took his word for it. The stuff wasn’t cheap, but a good vodka can be sipped. We’ll find out tonight.

I also had lunch at Mike’s City Diner in the south end. I love that place, but it’s a heart attack waiting to happen. It’s a shame the food is so darn good. I sat next to these two guys that put my gaydar into red alert. One of them was obviously a gym bunny. You could tell they were either very good friends or boyfriends. They were playfully fighting about something, and I said that they acted like an old married couple. The hot one told me they were. It all made sense. I love older gay couples.  LOL

After driving around the south end looking for a liquor store, I went to Target. My parents had given me a gift card for Christmas. The big purchase was a new electric razor and refills for my Sonicare toothbrush. I also picked up a stovetop popcorn popper. Beth and Paul have one and it’s awesome. I love being able to control how the popcorn is made.  It was also marked way down.  I had looked at one before Christmas, but I decided to wait. I’m glad I did.

Now it’s time to shower, shave, and clean up my house a bit. Eric and Michael live in the south end, so I’ll be parking at my office and walking to their house. Parking in the south end can be hell, and this will prevent me from getting a ticket. I’m sure it’ll be a fun night.
