NYE Reflections

There is an old saying/addage/wives tail that says how you spend New Year’s Eve is an indication of how you’ll spend the remainder of the year. I wonder how much validity it has. It seems that every year, I was with my friends in Pittsburgh, and there was always some drama to ensue. The remainder of the year would have it’s drama as well.

Last year, I spent the night being relatively quiet and wondering what I was doing here. That was a theme that haunted me for the next twelve months. The second half of the year ended with me spending more time alone and questioning everything—including the core of who I am and what I was brought up to believe.

This year, I’m going to be at a small party, surrounded by a few friends and meeting some new people. That’s not necessarily a bad way to spend the year.
