Home Away from Home

I think we all have that one place that we call our Home Away from Home. It’s the place filled with fond memories, even though we don’t call it home.  For me, that place is San Francisco. It’s a completely comfortable place, and I’ve been there countless times.

Well, I saw on Twitter that JetBlue is experimenting with putting roundtrip packages on eBay, and in a moment of total Mike impulsiveness, I bid on a roundtrip ticket to Oakland, CA this weekend. You know… there is actually a chance I might win this thing. After reading the details, it looks like I’ll be on the ground a grand total of 36 hours.

And then came the “Oh, shit…” moment. It dawned on me that I needed to find a place to sleep and place for Reggie to go. Sending Reggie out to Beth and Paul’s could work if they’re around, but for such a short trip, it’s a bit impractical. I called my old neighbor in East Boston, who is excited to keep Regaroo. Her Yorkie loves Reggie. And then the place to stay… Finding a hotel room in the east bay at a reasonable rate isn’t too bad.

I have an order of Bagdad fries just calling my name… provided I win the auction.
Then I called my friend Ian to see if he was going to be around next weekend. I’m really looking forward to seeing him, provided I win the auction.
