Long Trip

In all my years of business travel, this has to go down as one of the absolute worst experiences of my life. Okay, the actual work part of it has kicked ass. But the travel part of it has sucked.

One of the benefits of business travel is the opportunity to eat at places we normally wouldn’t and spend a little more than we normally would. Not this trip. I had one good meal out, and… well… I got sick. I will concede that on Sunday night, I did scarf down a good pizza from California Pizza Kitchen and enjoyed an incredible margarita.

I spent two gorgeous Arizona nights sick in bed. On my last day here, when I was feeling slightly better with some time to kill, it was rainy and cold. I couldn’t stray too far from a men’s room, either. I spent way too much time in men’s rooms today.

I had a great idea… I would get the airport really early, check in, and then buy a one-day pass at the Delta Crown Room so I could unwind a little, plug into the network, and rest up a bit before boarding the flight. There were two flaws with my plan. 1) I got to the airport about 6:30 and jetBlue won’t let me check in until 7:30. Their ticket counters aren’t even open yet. Worse yet, while Delta is in the same terminal, they’re on a different concourse, so I’d have to go through security. The only big airline on my concourse is American, and just my luck, they don’t have an AAdmirals Lounge in Phoenix.

Yes, I’m whining here. It’s been a long trip, and I miss Reggie. I really can’t wait to get home.  I do need to write my “Why I love being the customer” entry next. If I can get into an airport lounge, I’ll try that next.
