Something similar happened to me last year, too. I fly into Paris on March 29. I was to spend two days in Paris, two days in Berlin, and then arrive in Munich on April 2. I’d spend two nights in Munich and fly home on April 4. Of all the dumb luck. I can’t find a place to stay in Munich now. There is some type of convention or conference going on in Munich while I’m there, and the closest hotel room is 40km from the city. This happened to me last year. The night before we were supposed to fly home from Frankfurt, there wasn’t a hotel room to be found in the city. Well, actually there was one. Literally one. It was 700DM per night. That’s about $350. We ended up taking a train to Mainz and spending the night in a $200 hotel room. Thank the diety of your choice for plastic. Anywho, I’m now going to be in Berlin for four nights. Fuckin A! For a city with such an ugly past, Berlin is becoming a swan of a city. It’s wild and free, and its a great place to visit.
