Mmmm Coffee

I got my Cafe Express shipment today from Green Mountain Coffee. It had a box of Breakfast Blend and two boxes of Autumn Harvest. Mmmm… Coffee.

Breaking of Bread

Here is a great quote worth sharing: For much of the history of mankind, the breaking of bread was a sign of friendship and community. This actually comes from a Star Trek: The Next Generation episode called Time Squared. I plan on using it today for our potluck lunch.

Potluck

Tomorrow is another potluck lunch at work. Oh, the decisions… I watch the Food Network a lot, and if I’ve learned anything from Ina Garten, I’ve learned that if you can make a few things really well, the variations on those things can serve you well. On that note, I’ve roasted some potatoes for the… Continue reading Potluck

Chicken Tenders

Last weekend, I picked up some chicken at the store. So last night, I wanted to use it up while it was still fresh. I had watched Ina Garten make Parmesan chicken, and that inspired me to make chicken tenders. First, I cut the chicken into smaller pieces. Then I dredged it in flour, followed… Continue reading Chicken Tenders

Colored Taters

This weekend, I bought some multi-colored potatoes and roasted them. Obviously, I seasoned the hell out of them. This time, I tried a different herb combination. Normally, I use fresh rosemary and then assorted dried herbs. This time, I used rosemary, parsley, chives, and dill—all fresh. They sure had flavor, but I could have done… Continue reading Colored Taters

Brisket, Part 2

After three and a half hours, I just took the beef brisket out of the oven. OH MY GOD! This is one succulent piece of beef. It’s literally falling apart. This was a small piece of meat and really could have come out of the oven 45 minutes ago. But still, it’s amazing.  The layer… Continue reading Brisket, Part 2

Prosecco

Best Cellars carries Villia Jolanda Prosecco, which has easily become my favorite wine. I buy a couple bottles every few weeks and can go through it rather quickly. I should just buy it by the case.

Taters

After the meatloaf came out of the oven, some taters went in. I took red potatoes and quartered them. Next, they got a slathering (and I mean slathering) of olive oil and good dose of sea salt. Next came some pepper and chopped rosemary. These went into a 400 degree oven for about 45 minutes.… Continue reading Taters

PB&J French Toast

I just saw something on Diners Drive-Ins and Dives that I think I need to make for my niece.  Guy had a Peanut Butter and Jelly French Toast. Imagine putting peanut butter and jelly on slices of french bread before dunking into my french toast batter and then frying it in butter. Oh, this is… Continue reading PB&J French Toast

Potato Salad

I love to take a recipe and make it my own. I’ve done that with french toast, beef stew, and chicken-and-dumplings. I’m trying the same with potato salad. My friend Liz makes a great potato salad with cilantro, and I was playing with it today. First, I cooked four red potatoes in super salty water.… Continue reading Potato Salad
