Balls Out

I have news for the young people of East Boston. Trenton Street is just that, a street. It’s not a drag strip, and it’s certainly not a race track. It’s a street. You know, a street… where we have kids and dogs. This is not a place for you to come flying down the street… Continue reading Balls Out

Complaining about the weather

It got really cold really quickly.  This morning about 8:00, it was below 50 degrees. Now, I’m looking forward to the winter. It’s my favorite time of year. However, I fell asleep with the windows open the night before last. Now my back is all stiff and sore. It was a dumb move on my… Continue reading Complaining about the weather

Vermin Adventures, Part 3

I got up this morning to find three more entrapped mice, two on glue traps and one in a spring trap. Who knew the peanut butter could be so effective?

Vermin Adventures

When one lives in Boston in the summer, one must expect to have rodents, especially when the house one lives in is a hundred years old. The good news is that we’ve become adept in killing mice. They pop up every once in a while, and you set a trap to get them. Usually the… Continue reading Vermin Adventures

Eviction

My downstairs neighbor’s (not directly under me) has been asked to move out. This is the dumb shit who has two dogs that he won’t keep on a leash nor train well. I’d be lying if I said I was disappointed about this. The guy doesn’t clean up after his dogs, and he lets them… Continue reading Eviction

Throwdown

I was watching Throwdown with Bobby Flay today when he challenged a woman from Boston to a sticky bun throwdown.  She’s the owner of Flour Bakery and Cafe in the South End. Flour is one of my favorite places in the south end. We go there somewhat frequently, and just last week, we had a… Continue reading Throwdown

Fireworks

What is it with the people in East Boston shooting off fireworks while the planes are flying overhead? The people of East Boston always bitch because of the planes. Nothing would ruin their day more than if their fireworks caused an A320 or a 737 to crash into their house.

Portland vs Boston Transit

I was in Portland, OR, recently, and I’ve come to a conclusion. Those of us who ride (and pay for) the MBTA are getting screwed. Hands down, we’re just getting screwed. Now, I understand that Boston is a much larger metropolitan area than Portland with many more routes to cover, and I understand that our… Continue reading Portland vs Boston Transit

Bad Dog Walkers

I was out walking Reggie and Buddy tonight when I encountered something that irks me to no end, and that’s people walking their dogs without a leash when they don’t have them well-trained. Reggie never goes beyond the driveway without a leash. When I have Buddy, he doesn’t even get out the door without a… Continue reading Bad Dog Walkers

Bus Driver Shopping

When I was taking the T to work, there used to be this really cute driver on the 121 bus in the evenings. He was just terribly cute and I really wanted him to be gay. I’m not sure that he was. He had buzzed hair and a baby face but always wore a baseball… Continue reading Bus Driver Shopping
