On the Run

Last week, I posted about hair color, and the response was impressive. I certainly won’t be doing platinum, I guess. I want to do something with the color, just to get rid of some of the gray. No matter what, I’ll wait until my hair grows out a bit more. Coloring hair this short doesn’t make much sense.

I came home to a few surprises today. One was my Donut Panic shirt from shirt.woot.com. I love those shirts. My boss gets a kick out of them.

The other surprise was my new Aiden James CD, On the Run.  I think his voice is fantastic, and we’ve been chatting online quite a bit over the past year or so. In fact, when I was in Philly a while back, we had planned on meeting up for coffee, but our conflicting schedules didn’t allow that. He was doing a “pass the virtual hat” thing a while back to help produce On the Run, and I chipped in a little bit of money, not much, but a little. I was pleasantly surprised when he thanked me in the liner notes. And of course, the CD case was autographed. One of these days, I would love to record a track with him.

By the way, if you’re a Sirius subscriber, he’ll be on outQ 109 on Tuesday morning for a live interview. I hope to tune in.

My friend Josh is flying in from Pittsburgh Thursday afternoon to spend the weekend visiting me. I’m so freakin’ excited that I just might pee my pants. Well, maybe not that excited, but you get the point.

Work is going okay. This is the audit time of the month. It’s not difficult, just detailed. I’ve done a lot to make that easier by automating some of the stuff we do.  My boss is sending me to Oracle training in a few weeks. We have one system that is Oracle-based, even though we don’t really have access to it. He’s hedging his bets that we’re going to be moving to an Oracle-based ERP system early next year and wants to get me trained sooner rather than later. When an employer offers to send you to Oracle training, you don’t argue. Ever. It certainly doesn’t look bad on the resume.

My sister sent me a little gift the other day. It’s a Princess Martini glass. I got a good laugh out of that. More than anything, I appreciate the gesture. My sister and her fiance have been incredibly supportive lately, even though my parents have exactly been, at least in terms of the whole chorus thing.  I’ll have to snap a picture of the glass and post it to Flickr. It’s pretty funny.

Next weekend is the chorus retreat in Ogunquit, Maine. I’m looking forward to that.

You know, I should blog more frequently. Otherwise, I end up cranking out long entries like this one.
