Curtains

As we were discussing my new place, she asked if I had curtains yet. I explained the roman shades throughout, but I did need to get curtains for the living room. There were sheers hanging, but they were a bit…. sheer. Worse yet, if you looked in the living room window and the hallway and bathroom doors were open, you could see right into the bathroom. Curtains certainly were in order.

Curtains are ridiculously expensive. Usually I’d just make my own, but right now I lack the time, energy, and equipment to do this. The equipment is actually the easy part.  Instead, I went shopping, hitting up places like Kohls, Bed Bath and Beyond, and Linens n Things. BBB had these on clearance, and they’re a pretty decent pattern that’s not the slightest bit feminine and actually quite masculine—for curtains. I picked up a pair and went home with them, only to realize they were about three inches too short. So I went back and got the 84” curtains, and those go almost to the floor, which is fine.

At least my mom won’t say that I need to put curtains in the dining room. We’ll need to make valances for the bedrooms, though.
