Providence

I drove down to Providence today. It was a nice day and I wanted to go for a drive. There was really no particular reason for my going to Providence, other than it was just a good a destination as any.

Recently, I’ve been bitching about living in Boston and keep toying around with the idea of moving back to Providence. There are a couple of reasons why that probably won’t happen.  Mostly, though, it’s because that commute really did suck. And that was before I got Reggie. The poor guy would be by himself for ten or eleven hours a day if I moved back to Providence. Worse yet, I’d be at the office without my car since I’d be taking the commuter rail again. The walk from the Back Bay train station to the office is okay in the spring and fall, but it sucks in the winter and is worse yet the summer.

I briefly thought about dropping in on Frank while I was down there. That probably wouldn’t be a good idea. Actually, that might be a bad idea. First of all, dropping in on someone unannounced is really rude. Second, even after all this time, I’m not sure if I’d be welcome or not.  What happened between the two of us is something that I haven’t written about, and honestly, it’s one bit of my dirty laundry that I’m not ready to air in public.  We haven’t seen each other since I moved to Boston.  It’s probably best that way.

The one thing I wanted to do while I was in Providence was to get some chicken salad from ChiChi’s Italian Deli. They were closed today because it’s Sunday.
