Shoulder Season

I posted this to another blog and realized that I need to share this here, too.

I have this love/hate relationship with my fellow gay men. We can be bitchy, cranky, and fabulous all at the same time. Anybody who knows me can attest to this.

Tonight, I was at a bar in San Francisco called 440 Castro, which was formerly known as Daddy’s. I was meeting up with my friend Ian, and while I waited, I was sipping my Corona and checking out the locals.

This one guy had a tattoo in a really awesome place. The tattoo itself, while technically competent, was nothing spectacular, a nautical star. We all have one of those, right? But the placement was awesome. It was on the collar bone between the neck and shoulder. This tattoo was perfectly positioned so that when wearing a t-shirt or anything with a crew neck, it was visible. Yet if he was wearing a collared shirt, it would be hidden.

I complemented him on the placement of his tattoo and he started telling me how I shouldn’t get something everyone else has and how I should have something custom designed. This queen was quite bitchy about it, too. I simply rolled up my sleeve, showing off the Jon Clue work and explained that I knew all about custom work. That bitch turned around and walked away.

Yeah, I love and hate gay men at the same time. Still, the placement was awesome and I will be having my pumpkin put a tattoo in that location in very short order.
