Tour Guide

This is the second day with my parents in town. It’s been good having them here.

Yesterday, we left their vehicle at my office and took the T around town. We went to Haymarket, Quincy Market, and saw a few assorted things. They came back to my place and saw Reggie. He got a new toy from my mom and pictures are on his site. Then we got lost trying to find something to eat in Salem. My sense of direction still sucks. It was a long day, but very good to see them.

This morning, I took the T up to Wonderland, and they met me there. It was a good idea to keep vehicles out of the city. We took the T everywhere today, and that worked well. At the suggestion of my coworker Trish, we did a Boston Duck Tour.  I thought it was going to be stupid, but it was a lot of fun. Next, we did a tour of Trinity Church in the back bay. My mom loves going into big old churches, and she really enjoyed this. Then we got back on the T and headed out to Brookline (Coolidge Corner) and got some ice cream at JP Licks. We also went into the Trader Joes there, something my parents don’t have back home. We picked up some very cool stuff there. I think my mom enjoyed that store, considering she bought more stuff than I did.  Finally, we went back to the city and got my car, which was still at the office from last night. We drove back toward my place and picked up some sandwiches at Belle Isle Seafood in Winthrop. It’s a little hole in the wall place, but the fish is really fresh. We brought it back to my place and ate. Reggie got a few good bites of fish.

Tomorrow, we’re going to drive up through New Hampshire and do something my dad saw on the Travel Channel. We’re doing a steam train trip up the white mountains on Cog Railway. This is something I’d never head of, but it sounds interesting.

It’s been good having them here for a few days.
